As we speed right on through the month of October, it’s worth noting that Halloween is in full-effect throughout the entire region. If you love being scared out of your gourd (see what we did there?) then Pumpkin, have we got some fun in store for you! If you love the frights and fears that often accompany the Halloween holiday, you won’t want to miss some of our most-loved haunts.

Lake Eerie Fearfest is an October expansion of the thrilling Ghostly Manor, which was recently named a “Top Haunted Attraction” along with 30 others across the country by the Haunted Attraction Association. Lake Eerie Fearfest includes three haunts and is open Fridays and Saturdays from 8-11 pm through October 29.

Of course, Cedar Point’s HalloWeekends are legendary. This year, the scares are more thrilling than a ride on Millenium Force! Visit the park Thursday nights, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday through October 30 and experiences six outdoor scare zones, five indoor haunted mazes, and a variety unique shows and experiences, such as fortune telling or the Festival of Fear, throughout the park.

Fremont’s Haunted Hydro is a short drive from the Shores & Islands region – this popular regional haunt features three continuous experiences which evolve each year and is available weekends through October 30.

If you enjoy the spine-tingling feeling of hearing real ghost stories, you won’t want to miss the opportunity to experience Haunted Sandusky Tours with the folks at Firelands Adventure Tours. These one-hour tours depart downtown’s Jackson Street Pier on select dates through Sunday, October 30. You’ll enjoy a comfortable ride while Sandusky’s Grand Witch, Donna Bretz, guides you through the haunts of spirit-beings and tell stories of her encounters with them. You’ll explore cemeteries, downtown streets and buildings, and the waterfront.

If you are daring, you can sleep steps away from your haunt when you visit Sandusky Bayshore KOA Holiday Campground’s Wasted Wetlands. This haunted experience is offered to campers on Saturday nights through October 28. Ride the KOA Express train cart to meet the cannibal family that lives in the wetlands between the campground and Lake Erie. A family-friendly Halloween Town event precedes the scream team which comes out after dark.

Time is running out to get your terror on…get to Shores & Islands Ohio spooky haunts today!
